Henderson City Commissioner Nick Whitt announced he was resigning at the end of Tuesday afternoon’s Henderson City Commission meeting.
Whitt said he and his family would be moving to a home outside of the Henderson City limits. He said his resignation would be effective as of the end of June since he will no longer be a city of Henderson resident.
Whitt also has withdrawn from the November general election. He had been seeking re-election for one of the four at-large commission seats.
Whitt has served as a Henderson City Commissioner since January 2023.
Henderson Mayor Brad Staton said the Henderson City Commission will appoint someone to fill the open seat at one of the commission’s July meetings. The next regularly scheduled commission meeting will be at 3 p.m. on July 14.
Staton said the person appointed will serve until the end of the year.
With Whitt leaving the November general election race, there are seven candidates vying for the four at-large seats.
