HENDERSON, KY, August 6, 2026– Henderson Water Utility has received a total of $2 million in funding to support its South Raw Water Intake Project.
Congressman James Comer announcing $1 million in federal funds and Representative J.T. Payne announcing an additional $1 million during an event that took place Thursday morning at the Henderson Water Utility office located on Commonwealth Drive.
The South Raw Water Intake Project includes the installation of approximately 3,000 feet of raw water pipeline and the construction of a new intake structure on the Green River that supplies raw water to the South Water Treatment Plant.
The project will replace existing temporary intake structure with a permanent, modern facility. This will provide a significant upgrade to the South Water System while enhancing service reliability for industrial and contractual customers throughout the area.
Officials said the funding will help advance critical infrastructure improvements that will strengthen the long-term reliability and efficiency of Henderson Water Utility’s water system.
