EPD determines weekend fatal shooting was self-defense; no arrests made


Evansville Police Department said it appears the fatal shooting that occurred over the weekend was done in self-defense.

Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Delmar Ave at just before 11 a.m. Saturday for a report of shots fired in the area.

The 911 caller reported their brother had been shot. Officers arrived and located a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The man was transported to a local hospital where he did not survive his injuries.

The suspected shooter was detained on scene. Additional subjects, including potential witnesses, were also identified on scene.

Based on the statements of everyone involved and the known evidence at this time, police said this shooting has been determined to be self-defense. No one has been arrested in connection with this incident.
