Henderson Police Department apprehended a man wanted on a murder charge after he attempted to flee.
Henderson Police Department Officers stopped a man walking down the wrong side of the road on O’Byrne Street at about 4:40 p.m. Tuesday.
The man identified himself, but while officers were waiting for verification from dispatch, the man fled on foot. He ran through neighboring yards and jumped fences.
A short foot pursuit ended with officers detaining the man without further incident. The officers searched him and found a concealed firearm in his waistband.
The man was advised that giving a false name to law enforcement was a criminal offense. He then revealed his name as Mi’Kel Wimberly, 21.
Officers verified that Wimberly had multiple outstanding warrants out of Daviess County and was a convicted felon.
Wimberly was one of three men suspected of a murder for the shooting death of Joshua Hardison on Hughes Avenue in Owensboro in June of 2025, according to WFIE. Two other suspects, 24-year-old Jonathan Brown and 29-year-old Mitchell McGuire were arrested last year.
He was arrested and transported to the Detention Center. He is being held on a $1,000,000 full cash bond for the following charges:
- Possession of a Handgun by a convicted Felon
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Prior Deadly Weapon Felony offender
- Identity Theft (Theft of identity of another without consent)
- Fleeing or evading Police, 2nd degree (on Foot)
- Criminal Trespass, 2nd degree
- Hitchhiking / Disregard of traffic regulation by pedestrian

- Murder
- Burglary, 1st degree
- Assault, 1st Degree
- Wanton Endangerment, 1st degree (Discharge of Firearm)
- Probation Violation (for Felony Offense)
