An Evansville man with previous convictions for attempted murder of a police officer was recently charged with possession of a firearm.
The Street Crimes United was contacted on Sept. 18th about Jessie B. Gobin, 37, being involved in recent criminal activity and living in Evansville.
Detectives later learned that Gobin had an active warrant for his arrest and began surveillance on his residence. On Wednesday, Gobin was seen leaving his residence in a vehicle.
The vehicle stopped at a gas station at the intersection of Weinbach and Covert Avenues. Gobin was seen going inside the store and returning to the vehicle a short time later.
Gobin was taken into custody and found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. Gobin also admitted that a handgun found inside the vehicle belonged to him.
Gobin has previous convictions for attempted murder of a police officer and robbery in the state of Kentucky.
Gobin was charged with possession of a firearm by serious violent felon, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
The Street Crimes Unit is comprised of officers and detectives from the Evansville Police Department and Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office.
