Commission approves temporary use of right-of-way in Central business district

HENDERSON, Ky. – The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners approved a municipal order allowing the temporary use of the city’s right-of-way in the Central Business District through Aug. 1.
The action took place at a special-called teleconference meeting on Tuesday, May 19, in the third-floor Assembly Room.
The approval of the plan to allow tables, chairs and other items on city parking spaces is intended to help restaurants and taverns in the area as they reopen for business under Gov. Andy Beshear’s guidelines and restrictions of social distancing and dining room capacity of only 33 percent.
The order allows the city manager to develop guidelines and regulations for the permitted use.
The municipal order was the only item on the agenda of the special-called meeting that preceded a work session on the 2020-21 fiscal year budget.
The next regular meeting is set for Tuesday, May 26, and it will be a special-called teleconference meeting at 3 p.m.
