HENDERSON, Ky. - The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners approved an agreement authorizing a new near site clinic for city employees at its meeting on Sept. 22.
The agreement is with Deaconess Clinic and will provide employees, spouses and dependents covered by the city's health insurance program a low or no-cost option for acute and comprehensive medical care needs as well as other benefits.
The city previously had a near site clinic arrangement for its employees with Methodist Hospital.
The board was meeting on its regular day but at a special time with limited public attendance permitted.
In other business, the board:
--Passed a first reading of an ordinance amending language in the Code of Ordinances about repairs, damage, theft of potable water service and tampering with meters or other devices. The Henderson Water-Sewer Commission approved the amendment at its Sept. 21 meeting. HWU has launched a project to install new smart water meters.
--Passed a first reading of an ordinance closing an unimproved portion of Lincoln Avenue public right-of-way between Kentucky 2084 N. and Kentucky 351 to allow for the consolidation of property. The closure was approved by the Henderson City-County Planning Commission.
--Approved a resolution that will clear the way for offering customers a new electronic payment platform that will also streamline workflow for the Finance Department. The new system should be in place in spring 2021.
--Heard a report and update from Gina Boaz of Green River Area Development District about the CARES Act COVID-19 loan program.
--Heard a report about a annexation on Airline Road and voted to send a request for zoning designation to the Planning Commission.
--Heard an ordinance review on the chapter about manufactured homes and animated signs.
A work session followed the meeting with Police Chief Heath Cox updating commissioners about activities in his department.
The next meeting is set for Tuesday, Oct. 13.
