ROTARY CLUB OF HENDERSON AWARDS GRANTS TO LOCAL NON-PROFITS

Henderson Rotary has announced the award of more than $45,000 in grants to support non-profits in the Henderson Community.

This year, with the additional stress on nonprofits stemming from the global pandemic, Rotary made a change to its annual Community Grant program by adding a $10,000 Matching Grant. Rotary is pleased to award this $10,000 Matching Grant to the Henderson Tourist Commission and the Ohio Valley Art League (OVAL) to provide funds to establish Gallery 101, a new art gallery and community space at the Depot Welcome Center.

“OVAL is so excited to partner with Henderson Tourist Commission to bring a new, modern art gallery and creative space to downtown Henderson in The Depot Welcome Center,” said Jordyn Myracle, executive director of Ohio Valley Art League. “This initiative will act as a catalyst to enrich the arts and culture in our community and can be appreciated and utilized by both locals and visitors.

“We are so grateful for the community support and encouragement we have received regarding this project,” Myracle added. “On behalf of OVAL, I would like to thank Rotary Club for their interest in our project and for supporting the arts and our dream to create a unique space for Henderson to enjoy!”

Abby Dixon, executive director of Henderson Tourist Commission, agreed.

“Gallery 101 is a prime example of community collaboration at its finest, and we’re grateful for the Rotarians’ role in helping us bring it to life,” she said. “We can’t wait for this addition to our welcome center and the impact it will make on visitors to our community.”

In addition to this $10,000 matching grant, the Rotary Club has also announced its annual community grants for 18 projects created by leadership, health education and community service organizations in Henderson. These grants include everything from programming support for Involvement’s juvenile rehabilitation service to support for books to newborns and toddlers through Imagination Library.
