Crosses being installed in Central Park Ahead of Memorial Day Observance

Henderson, Ky. (May 6, 2021) The American Legion Worsham Post 40, in conjunction with the Henderson War Memorial Foundation, will be placing crosses in Central Park starting Monday, May 10, 2021, to mark Memorial Day.
In addition, the War Memorial Foundation will hold Memorial Day Ceremonies on Monday, May 31, 2021. The War Memorial Foundation invites all patriotic Hendersonians to attend the Memorial Day Services which will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am near the fountain in Central Park in downtown Henderson.
The placement of crosses and the ceremonies had to be canceled last year because of COVID 19 but these events will resume this year marking the seventy-fourth year (74th) honoring deceased Veterans and their families. The crosses in the park will be inscribed bearing each Veteran’s name.
Crosses in the park and Memorial Day Services began in 1947. This year the total number of crosses erected in the park will approach 5,400. Flowers and other commemorations on the crosses are welcomed. Seating is limited. Social distancing and masks are encouraged.
There is no rain site; if it rains, the event will be canceled. Additional information regarding the foundation and its activities can be found at www.hendersonwarmemorial.org.
