The Rotary Club is pleased to announce the seven recipients of the 2021 $1,000 Rotary College Scholarships:
Ashby Greenwell, daughter of Alyson and Joey Greenwell. Ashby plans to attend Brescia University.
Maria Hadjisavva, daughter of Doros and Ellada Hadjisavva. Ms. Hadjisavva plans to attend the University of Kentucky.
Natalie Hutchinson, daughter of Stefani and Brian Hutchinson. She plans to attend the Morehead State University.
Shane O’Nan, son of Sid and Lori O’Nan. He plans to attend the University of Kentucky.
Jacob Perry, son of Jason and April Perry. Jacob plans to attend Murray State University.
Maggie Privette, daughter of Randy and Teri Privette. She plans to attend the University of Kentucky.
Avery Wagner, son of Michael and Jennifer Wagner. He plans to attend Rose Hulman Institute of Technology.
“Each year, the scholarship process is competitive, and this year was no different. Rotary received many outstanding applications,” said Rotary Scholarship Chair Rob Toerne. “The winners have all shown outstanding academic accomplishments, along with a strong commitment to service. Rotary is honored to support their educational endeavors.” In addition to Toerne, the other individuals serving on this year’s Scholarship Committee include Jennifer Andrews, Cyndee Burton, Amber Conville, Kyle Fuller, Dawn Kelsey, Rich Martindale, Dennis Moran, and KT Williams.
At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, the recipients were recognized. “Each year, Rotary looks forward to meeting each one of the recipients and their parents in addition to celebrating their accomplishments,” explained Rotary President Amber Conville. “
Founded in 1917, the Rotary Club of Henderson is among the oldest and largest Rotary clubs in Kentucky. Rotary has a long history of support for schools and education in Henderson. Each year, in addition to its college scholarships awarded, the Rotary Club supplies dictionaries to every third grader in Henderson County, sponsors the Rotary Field Day for elementary students, provide coats to the schools’ Family Resource Centers, and provided the lead gift for the Rotary Colonels 2 College scholarship program. Further, the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, As the world’s largest private provider of international scholarships helps more than 1,000 students annually to study abroad and serve as cultural ambassadors. Rotary also partners with seven prestigious universities around the world to provide opportunities to earn a master’s degree in peace and conflict and resolution.
