HENDERSON, KY, July 22, 2021– The City of Henderson’s Finance Department has received a new award for excellence from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
It is the 22nd time that the Finance Department has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).
“All finance department staff members who participate in this financial reporting procedure are to be commended for bringing this recognition to the city and for their contributions to this high standard of excellence,” said Henderson City Manager Buzzy Newman.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
The document was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
