City Commission Finalizes New Public Safety Officer Position


HENDERSON, Ky. - The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners finalized the process of creating a public safety officer position and setting 
its duties and authorities at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 12.
The commission also finalized ordinances for a new policy on issuing licenses and permits when delinquent taxes and other payments are present, 
bond postings for non-local businesses and the issuance of general obligations bonds for Henderson Municipal Power & Light.

In other action the commission:
--Approved a time extension to an agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet for the Green River Road sidewalk project.
--Approved an agreement between Henderson Police Department and Henderson County Sheriff's Office for use of the HPD firing range.
--Approved a change order for work that's being done to extend Borax Drive to make additional improvements.
--Approved a proposal from Qk4 Inc. for engineering and design service for the Kentucky 425 Bypass turn lane project.
--Heard a report from Hendersonians for an Aquatic Center Committee about their participation in the Build-A-Pool conference in August.
--Mayor Steve Austin presented Briscoe Edwards of Henderson Police Department with a 20-year service award pin.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, in the third-floor Assembly Room of the Henderson Municipal Center. 
A work session is planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19.
