Fire Crews Make Quick Work of Laundry Room Fire at Henderson County Detention Center

Firefighters from every city fire station responded to an overnight fire at the Henderson County Detention Center on Borax Drive.

Henderson Assistant Fire Chief Ayron Thompson tells WSON News the fire call came in just before 10 pm.

Thompson says the fire originated in the jail’s laundry room and traveled up a flue to the jail’s roof. Fire crews quickly tapped out the flames and no injuries

were reported. No evacuation was necessary.

Henderson police, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police, and Deaconess EMS joined the Henderson Fire Department at the scene.
