Henderson City Commission Holds First Meeting of 2022

HENDERSON, Ky. - The City of Henderson Board of Commissioners, at its regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 11, approved the policy it will need to meet
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) COVID-19 regulations should they remain in place after a review by the U.S. Supreme Court.
The U.S. SCOTUS heard oral arguments on the OSHA standards on Friday, Jan. 7, but has yet to make a ruling. A mandate requiring vaccinations or
testing for employers with more than 100 employees is set to go into effect Feb. 9. The OSHA regulations are effective through July 10 unless modified,
suspended, terminated or extended.
The Board of Commissioners has opted to require weekly testing and face masks for unvaccinated employees in order for them to stay on the job.
City staff is working on testing procedures and will have the program ready to go on Feb. 9 if the OSHA plan is not suspended by the U.S. SCOTUS.
The City already has its own internal administrative policy requiring face masks for all employees.

Among other business, the commission:
--Heard a presentation on the City's audit by Mac Neel of Alexander Thompson Arnold CPAs.

--Finalized ordinances making adjustments in the employee pay plan and amending budgeted positions in the Finance Department, and also amending
the alcohol ordinance to streamline the process for allowing alcohol for events at Gallery 101. The board also voted to modify the lease with the
Henderson Tourist Commission to allow alcohol at Gallery 101 events.

--Passed first readings of ordinances amending the sign ordinance, removing the employee manual from ordinances and changing it to a municipal
order and updating the Henderson City-County Comprehensive Plan to reflect new data from the 2020 Census.
