City Commission Approved Bond Issue for Pratt Paper Project


HENDERSON, Ky. - At its regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8, the Henderson City Commission conducted two items of business and held 
a public hearing related to the Pratt Paper LLC project now under way on the Kentucky 425 Bypass.
Following a hearing that invited public comment, the board finalized an ordinance authorizing the issuance of industrial revenue bonds in support 
of the Pratt project and passed first reading of an ordinance annexing right-of-way on both Old Corydon Road and the Kentucky 425 Bypass.

In other business, the commission:

--Approved a municipal order that releases a sewer line easement between Henderson Water Utility and Chapelwood Apartments that contains an abandoned pipe.

--Approved a municipal order on a pay plan for seasonal employees at Atkinson Pool. The plan that was enhanced for the summer of 2021 to promote hiring 
will carry forward to the upcoming season. It features $10 per hour for lifeguards, $11 per hour for senior lifeguards and $12 per hour for head lifeguards. 
Fifteen-year-olds will be eligible for employment. Lifeguards can get reimbursement for their Red Cross lifesaving and CPR certifications upon completion of 
the swimming pool season.

--Passed a resolution authorizing a FEMA Fire Prevention and Safety grant program application in the amount of $143,925.

--Approved the following reappointments: Ryan Nunn to the Ethics Boards and J. Landon Overfield and Heather Knight to the Board of Zoning Adjustment. 
Additionally, Frank Boyett was appointed to fill an unexpired term on the Henderson City-County Planning Commission left vacant by the resignation of 
David Williams.

--Commissioner Brad Staton reported that the next meeting of the PFAS Work Group will take place at 4 p.m. Feb. 28 in the Assembly Room.

The date for the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is Feb. 22, 3 p.m. It will take place in the third-floor Assembly Room of the Henderson 
Municipal Center.
The Board of Commissioners will have a work session at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, to hear a presentation from Henderson Police Department about some of 
their initiatives and statistics.
