The Henderson Rotary Club is pleased to announce the seven recipients of the 2022 $1,000 Rotary College Scholarships:
Chasity Bryant, daughter of Susan and Glenn Bryant. Ms. Bryant plans to attend the University of Louisville and study Civil Engineering.
Arly Cleto, daughter of Sandra Cleto. Arly plans to attend the University of Kentucky and study Nursing.
Taylor Chambers, daughter of Shanna Chambers and Heath Chambers. She plans to attend the Murray State University and study Agribusiness.
Joshua Freeman, son of Laura Freeman. He plans to attend University of Louisville and study Chemical Engineering.
Meredith Gold, daughter of Holly and Steve Gold. She plans to attend University of Kentucky and major in Pre-Med.
Delaney Thompson, daughter of Clifton and Rhonda Thompson. She plans to attend Murray State University and study Elementary Education.
Lauren Vick, daughter of Jennifer Vick and Michael Vick. She plans to attend University of Southern Indiana and study Pre-Dental Hygiene.
“This year as in the past years the scholarship process was so competitive. Rotary received many outstanding applications,” said Rotary Scholarship Chair Rob Toerne. “The winners have all shown outstanding academic accomplishments, along with strong commitment to service. Rotary is honored to support their educational endeavors.” In addition to Toerne, the other individuals serving on this year’s Scholarship Committee include Cyndee Burton, Ed Henson, Kim Hoodenpyle, Charles Johnson, Dawn Kelsey, Susan Sauls, Mary Steely, and Rachel Trout.
At Thursday’s Rotary meeting, the recipients were recognized. “Each year, Rotary looks forward to hearing from each of the recipients and meeting their parents to celebrate their accomplishments,” explained Rotary President Jennifer Andrews. “
Founded in 1917, the Rotary Club of Henderson is among the oldest and largest Rotary clubs in Kentucky. Rotary has a long history of support for schools and education in Henderson. Each year, in addition to its college scholarships awarded, the Rotary Club supplies dictionaries to every third grader in Henderson County, sponsors the Rotary Field Day for elementary students, provide coats to the schools’ Family Resource Centers, and provided the lead gift for the Rotary Colonels 2 College scholarship program. Further, Rotary Foundation of Rotary International, As the world’s largest private provider of international scholarships helps more than 1,000 students annually to study abroad and serve as cultural ambassadors. Rotary also partners with seven prestigious universities around the world to provide opportunities to earn a master’s degree in peace and conflict and resolution.
