New Salvation Army Leaders, Storys, Arrive in Henderson
Henderson, KY (June 28, 2022) – The Salvation Army in Henderson is pleased to welcome new leaders, Majors Stephen and Sandra Story, and their family. They assumed their position on June 26, 2022, and have quickly settled into their new surroundings and are looking forward to getting to know the community and moving forward the ministry of The Salvation Army.
Salvation Army Officers are periodically transferred to different locations, typically every 3-5 years. The Storys are enthusiastic and dynamic leaders and come to Henderson from Nashville, where for the last three years they were responsible for the programs and services of the Nashville Citadel Corps in north Nashville.
In addition to Nashville, the Storys have served The Salvation Army in other locations, including New Orleans, Biloxi, MS, Mobile, AL, Cambridge, MD, Martinsburg, WV, Beckley, WV, and Bowling Green, KY. Henderson will be their ninth appointment. They have two adult children- Rebekah, 23, and Thomas, 20. In their spare time, Major Stephen enjoys health and fitness, reading, and hiking and camping. Major Sandra shares some of the same interests as her husband, but also enjoys puzzles.
“It has been exciting to meet the people of Henderson and discover the many opportunities for ministry here,” said Major Stephen Story. “We look forward to meeting the needs of this community and ‘Doing The Most Good’ alongside the staff, volunteers and supporters of The Salvation Army.”
The couple is responsible for all church programs and social services at The Salvation Army including the Family Store and youth programs.
“Many people don’t realize that The Salvation Army is a church,” said Major Story. “We invite everyone to join us for Worship each Sunday at 10:30 AM, at The Salvation Army, located at 1213 Washington Street, here in Henderson. We look forward to meeting you soon!”
