Representatives from National Weather Service Paducah, Kentucky and Henderson County Office of
Emergency Management (HCOEM) will be recognizing AMG Aluminum North America, Henderson
County Public Library, and Pittsburg Tank and Tower as Weather Ready Nation Ambassadors. The
Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador ceremonies will be held on Friday, July 8th at AMG Aluminum North
America near Robards, Kentucky at 10 AM CDT, at 1130 AM CDT at the Henderson County Public
Library, and at 1 PM CDT at Pittsburg Tank and Tower Group in Henderson, Kentucky.
“Through a partnership between the National Weather Service in Paducah and HCOEM, the Weather Ready
Nation Ambassador initiative encourages organizations and communities in Henderson County to
take a proactive approach to improve local hazardous weather operations and public awareness and
safety. It means that we all should work together as force multipliers to unify our area to be ready,
responsive, and resilient against weather hazards”, said Kenny Garrett, Director, HCOEM.
“As a Weather Ready Nation Ambassador, organizations commit to working with NOAA’s National
Weather Service and other ambassadors to strengthen resilience in the area against extreme weather. The
Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador initiative will help unify efforts across Henderson County to be as
prepared as possible for severe weather”, said Derrick Snyder, Meteorologist with NOAA’s National
Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky. “
To be officially recognized as a Weather Ready Nation Ambassador, an organization must commit to:
• Promoting Weather-Ready Nation messages and themes to their stakeholders
• Engaging with NOAA’s National Weather Service on potential collaboration opportunities
• Sharing success stories of preparedness and resiliency
• Serving as an example by educating employees on workplace preparedness
These first three Weather-Ready Nation Ambassador ceremonies are only the beginning accomplishments
of the Henderson County Weather-Ready Community national pilot project. This public safety and
resilience project was developed as a partnership between NOAA’s National Weather Service and
HCOEM. The Weather-Ready Community pilot project utilizes FEMA’s “Whole Community” concept to
use existing tools along with new procedures to access, document and recommend best practices with
regards to all hazards.
