HENDERSON, KY (August 22, 2022) – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce and its Education Committee are pleased to announce the return of this pre-pandemic event, the Community Education Breakfast. The breakfast will take place this Friday, August 26th, beginning at 7:45 a.m. with coffee and breakfast provided. The cost is $10 for Chamber members and $15 for non-members. Visit the Henderson Chamber website at www.hendersonkychamber.com to make your reservations online or call the office at 270-826-7505.
The Community Education Breakfast will facilitate updates from educational leadership throughout the region, including Dr. Bob Lawson, Superintendent of the Henderson County School System, Dr. Jason Warren, President of the Henderson Community College, Ms. Judy Jenkins, Principal of Holy Name School, and a leadership representative from Murray State University. The event is expected to wrap up at about 9:00 a.m.
Dr. Michelle Chappell, Associate Professor at the Henderson Community College and Chair of the Chamber’s Education Committee said, “I’m excited to bring this event back to the community, and hope that the conversation will aid in closing the achievement gap and ensuring that all students have the resources they need to transition into higher education. Our underrepresented minority and low-income students especially may need mentorship or extra guidance to ensure that they have the same opportunities to achieve academic success, and ultimately fruitful long-term employment, as their peers.”
The Chamber is grateful for our sponsor, Owensboro Health, who made this event possible and supports the mission of the Chamber’s Education Committee and the community of Henderson.
