The (5-1) Henderson County Colonels continued their season on the road by taking on the (1-5) Apollo Eagles at Eagle Stadium in Owensboro.
The Colonels opened up the game on defense in which the Colonels forced the Marshals to punt on their first drive of the game. On the Colonels first drive of the game, the Colonels would run 11 plays for 63 yards of offense that included a 3 yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis, as after the made PAT the Colonels would lead 7-0 with 5:35 to play in the first quarter. Then with 4:31 to play in the first quarter, the Eagles would cap off 4 plays for 68 yards with a 52 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Christian Combs to senior wide receiver Donte Dixon, as after the blocked PAT the Colonels still led the Eagles 7-6. Then with 4:19 to play in the first quarter, the Colonels would cap off a 2 play 55 yard drive with a 5 yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis, as the Colonels went up 14-6 after the PAT. With 1:50 to play in the first quarter, the Colonels would take 2 plays for 26 yards to score as it would be a 19 yard touchdown pass form sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis to senior running back Jaheim Williams, as after the made PAT the Colonels would extend their lead to 21-6. The Colonels would cap off a 4 play 68 yard drive with a 20 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis to junior wide receiver Koien Banks, as after the made PAT the Colonels would take a 28-6 lead with 9:54 to play in the first half. Then in the 2nd quarter, the Colonels would cap off a 9 play 75 yard drive with a 6 yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Max Thompson to senior tight end Turner Mattingly, as after the missed PAT the Colonels would have a 34-6 lead with 3:58 to play in the first half. The Eagles would get the last score of the first half, as the Eagles would cap off a 7 play 42 yard drive with a 7 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Christian Combs to senior wide receiver Donte Dixon, as after the made 2-point conversion, the score would be 34-14 with the Colonels ahead by 20 points at halftime.
The Colonels would start with the football in the second half, as the Colonels would cap off a 5 play 53 yard drive with a 6 yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis, as after the PAT the Colonels would continue their domination and go up 41-14 with 10:11 to play in the 3rd quarter. Then the first drive of the second half for the Eagles was a 5 play 42 yard drive that would lead to a 6 yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Christian Combs, as after the made PAT the Eagles would cut the score to 41-21 with 7:57 to play in the 3rd quarter. Then on the next drive the Colonels would run 2 plays for 50 yards capping off the drive with a 33 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis to senior running back Jaheim Williams, as after the PAT the Colonels would extend their lead to 27 point lead with the score 48-21 with 7:16 to play in the 3rd quarter. With 2:56 to play the Colonels would run one play for a 77 yard touchdown run by senior running back Jaheim Williams, as after the made PAT the Colonels would continue to show dominance and go ahead 55-21. The Colonels would score first in the fourth quarter by capping off a 6 play 60 yard drive with a 1 yard touchdown run by senior running back Jordan Wright, as after the made PAT the Colonels would extend their massive lead to make the score 62-21 with 9:41 to play in the game. The Eagles would be the last team to score as senior Morgan Eans would recover a Colonel fumble and return it for a touchdown, as after the PAT the Eagles would narrow the deficit to 62-28 as the Colonels would walk away with a dominating 34 point district win as the Colonels improve to (6-1) on the season with the win while the Eagles drop to (1-6) with the loss.
Colonel sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis was 7 for 9 with 169 yards passing and 3 passing touchdowns on the night. Junior quarterback Max Thompson was 3 for 3 for 78 yards passing and one passing touchdown on the night. Senior running back Jordan Wright rushed 13 times with 139 rushing yards and ran for a touchdown while the other senior running back Jaheim Williams rushed 5 times for 102 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on the night. Colonel sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis also ran 10 times for 78 yards and had 3 rushing touchdowns on the night while Jaheim Williams also had 4 receptions for 119 yard receiving and 2 touchdown receptions on the night.
The Colonels as a team, had 327 yards rushing and 247 yards passing for a total of 576 yards of offense on the night. The Colonels defense held the Eagles to 73 yards rushing and 286 yards of offense on the night, as the Colonels also forced 1 turnover, 4 punts and held the Eagles to 13 first downs on the night.
The Colonels will take on the Daviess County Panthers next Friday night, October 14th, at home at Colonel Stadium with the kickoff set for 7 P.M.
