The (7-1) Henderson County Colonels continued their season on the road by taking on the (2-5) McCracken County Mustangs at Marquette Stadium in Paducah in a big Class 6A District 1 matchup.
The Colonels won the coin toss but elected to defer to get the football to start the second half. Both teams started the game with punts and then on the next possession the Colonels capped off a 8 play, 80 yard drive with a 34 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis to junior wide receiver Jackson Pendergraft, as after the made PAT the Colonels would take a 7-0 lead over the Mustangs with 3:14 to play in the first quarter. The Colonels would then score again on a 51 yard touchdown run by senior running back Jaheim Williams, as after the made PAT the Colonels would extend their lead to 14-0 with 7:22 to play in the first half. With 1:55 to play in the first half, the Colonels would cap off a 5 play for 80 yard drive with a 38 yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis to senior running back Jaheim Williams, as after the made PAT the Colonels would go up 21-0 to end the first half with a three score lead headed into the halftime break.
To start the second half it would only take 12 seconds for the Colonels to score on a 62 yard touchdown run by senior running back Jaheim Williams, as after the made PAT the Colonels would extend their lead to 28-0. The Colonels would then strike again with a 18 yard touchdown run by sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis, as the Colonels elected to go for the 2 point conversion and converted with Jordan Wright running it in for 2 points to give the Colonels a 36-0 lead for the Colonels with 9:15 to play in the third quarter. The Mustangs would get on the board with a 23 yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Pryor Lamb to senior wide receiver Jack Bradley, as after the made PAT the Mustangs would cut into the deficit with the score 36-7 with 4:30 to play in the third quarter. The Colonels would be the team with the final score of the game on a 9 yard touchdown pass from junior Max Thompson to senior running back Jordan Wright, as after the made PAT the Colonels would extend their to 36 and win by that margin with the final score 43-7 as the Colonels take down the McCracken County Mustangs to improve to (8-1) on the season while the Mustangs fall to (2-6).
Colonel sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis was 3 for 9 with 76 yards passing and 2 passing touchdowns on the night. Senior running back Jaheim Williams rushed 4 times for 152 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns while the other senior running back Jordan Wright rushed 10 times with 121 rushing yards and a 9 yard touchdown reception from junior quarterback Max Thompson on the night. Colonel sophomore quarterback Trajdon Davis also ran the ball 9 times for 90 yards and had 2a rushing touchdown on the night.
The Colonels as a team, had 388 yards rushing and 85 yards passing for a total of 473 yards of offense on the night. The Colonel’s defense held the Mustangs to 5 yards rushing and 153 passing yards on the night, as the Colonels forced 3 punts and held the Mustangs to 8 first downs on the night.
The Colonels will take on the Owensboro Red Devils next Friday night, October 28th, at home at Colonel Stadium in Henderson with the kickoff set for 7 P.M.
