
HENDERSON, Ky. – During the final meeting of the year for the City of Henderson Board of
Commissioners, retiring Mayor Steve Austin was recognized for his many contributions to the
City during his three terms as mayor.
State Senator Robby Mills presented Mayor Austin with a declaration from the state legislature.
Henderson County Judge Executive Brad Schneider presented the mayor and retiring Public
Information Officer Donna B. Stinnett with Henderson County “Tiller of the Redbanks” awards
for their service to our community. City Manager Buzzy Newman echoed Senator Mills and
Judge Schneider’s remarks about the positive impact Mayor Austin and Stinnett have had on the
City of Henderson.
Also at the meeting, the commission:
–Approved second reading of an ordinance adjusting the pay plan to increase hazardous duty
employees by $5,000 annually and non-hazardous employees by 3 percent. The adjustment was
made to enhance employee recruitment and retention.
–Approved second reading of an ordinance amending the payroll and net profits portions of the
occupational tax rates from 1.49 percent 1.65 percent.
–Approved first reading of an ordinance accepting public improvements to HWU sewer and
manholes at Hydro Aluminum.
–Approved first reading of an ordinance authorizing issuance of industrial building revenue
bonds for Pratt, LLC project.
–Heard a presentation and then approved the City of Henderson audit report.
–Approved the purchase of one 11 cubic yard refuse packer for public works department.
–Approved the bid for Henderson Municipal Gas Station 1 purchase point replacement and
upgrade.
–Henderson Tourism Director Abby Dixon recognized riverboat tour guides for their help with
this year’s 28 riverboat stops.
–Heard a presentation from HMPL General Manager Brad Bickett on future power supply.

–Heard a presentation for a new outdoor community skate park.
–Approved a consent agenda with eighteen sets of minutes, a resolution authorizing approval
and adoption of updated Transit Asset Management (TAM) Plan for HART, a resolution
approving revised HART Safety plan, resolution authorizing acceptance of Cleaner Water
Program grant (Raw water intake & pipeline project for HWU), resolution approving funding
agreement with the Humane Society of Henderson County, Inc., resolution acknowledging
receipt of notice of intent not to take oath of office of City Commissioner from Michael “Jay”
Randolph, a municipal order approving purchase of vehicles and equipment for police
department, and municipal order approving changer order #2 to KY425 turn lanes to Pratt Paper.
The date for the next regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners is Tuesday, Jan 10, 3 p.m.
It will take place in the third-floor Assembly Room of the Henderson Municipal Center.
There will also be a called meeting on Dec. 22 at 1:15 p.m. It will take place in the Assembly
Room. Following this meeting, there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the new sports
complex. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. at the soon-to-be construction site on Airline Road.
