Henderson Police Department have arrested a Cairo man on rape and sodomy charges. Officers said they located 45-year-old Bethel Powell of Cairo in the 10 block of Pargon Drive on Saturday.
Police said they identified Powell as having multiple warrants – including a parole warrant, warrant on indictment for multiple counts including first-degree rape, first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, and one count of kidnapping a minor and one count of intimidating a participant in the legal process.
Powell was arrested and lodged at the Henderson County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond. He is due in court at 8 a.m. Monday.
