The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Daviess County Lady Panthers at home at Colonel Gym.
In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Panthers 17-9, as Lady Colonel senior forward Jarie Thomas and freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson would combine for 12 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Panthers 20-5, as the Lady Colonels held a 23 point lead over the Lady Panthers at halftime with the score 37-14.
To begin the second half, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Panthers 17-8, as the Lady Colonels held a 54-22 lead over the Lady Panthers heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Panthers 11-9, as the Lady Colonels would come away with a 34 point win against the Lady Panthers with the final score 65-31. The Lady Colonels improve to (9-3) on the season while the Panthers drop to (4-10).
The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior forward Jarie Thomas with 14 points and 4 rebounds on the night. Freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson had 10 points while shooting 2 for 3 from the free throw line while senior guard Mallorie Veal scored 8 points. Sophomore forward Anna Kemp contributed 6 points and 6 rebounds while sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles tallied 6 points. Senior guard Savannah Lacer recorded 5 points and 5 assists while senior guard Graci Risley added 5 points while shooting 2 for 2 from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Allyson Rideout contributed 4 points and added 4 rebounds while freshman forward A’Tylia Green tallied 4 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Colonels, sophomore guard Rashia Cansler scored 3 points on the night.
As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 3 for 11 (27%) from the three point line while shooting 10 for 13 (76%) from the free throw line and grabbed 27 total team rebounds while committing 6 turnovers on the night.
The Lady Colonels next game will be tomorrow Saturday, January 7th, at Bowling Green against the Southwestern Lady Warriors at 12:00 P.M. in the German American Bank Classic.
