Colonels Take Care of Business With Road Win

The Henderson County Colonels took on the North Hardin Trojans on the road at Central Hardin High School yesterday afternoon in the RDT Construction New Years Classic.

 

In the first period, the Trojans outscored the Colonels 12-11, as Colonel senior guard Gerard Thomas scored all 11 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Colonels outscored the Trojans 17-12, as the Colonels held a 4 point lead at halftime with the score 28-24.

 

To begin the second half, the Colonels would outscore the Trojans 18-8, as the Colonels would hold a 14 point lead over the Trojans heading into the fourth quarter with the score 46-32. In the fourth and final quarter, the Colonels would outscore the Trojans 20-16, as Colonel sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 11 points in the quarter, as the Colonels would come away with a 18 point win over the Trojans with the final score 66-48. The Colonels improve to (12-5) on the season while the Trojans fall to (8-7).

 

The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with a monster double-double with 32 points and 13 rebounds while sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 16 points and 3 rebounds on the day. Junior guard Alec Satterfield contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds while senior forward Jake Rideout tallied 4 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Sophomore guard Dwaine Moss added 3 points while sophomore forward Trajdon Davis recorded 2 points and 5 rebounds on the day.

As a team, the Colonels shot 4 for 14 (28%) from the three point line and shot 10 for 19 (52%) from the free throw line while grabbing 37 total team rebounds on the day.

 

The Colonels will take on the Castle Knights from Newburgh, Indiana on Tuesday night, January 17th, at Colonel Gym with the tip-off at 7:30 P.M.
