Henderson Police Department has confirmed that a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Sunday night on U.S. 41 has died.
Henderson Fire Department said the initial report was for a person lying in the roadway in the 2000 block of U.S. 41-North near the Sugar Creek Inn. The person had been struck by an SUV. The call came in at roughly 6:30 Sunday night.
A tractor-trailer blocked the road to keep traffic off the struck man while emergency responders attended to the patient. Henderson Police diverted southbound traffic to North Elm Street and U.S. 60.
Henderson Police Lt. Stuart O’Nan confirmed that the pedestrian had succumbed to his injuries after he was transported to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville Sunday evening. His name was not provided since police weren’t certain all relatives had been notified. O’Nan did confirm the man was a Henderson County resident.
O’Nan said no charges were expected for the SUV driver in the vehicle accident.
