The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against 6th District rival, the Webster County Lady Trojans, at home at Colonel Gym.
In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Trojans 20-9, as Lady Colonel senior forward Jarie Thomas scored 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Colonels outscored the Lady Trojans 24-12, senior guard Graci Risley and sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles combined for 14 points as the Lady Colonels would hold a 23 point lead over the Lady Trojans heading into halftime with the score 44-21.
To begin the second half, the Lady Colonels outscored the Lady Trojans 9-8, as the Lady Colonels held a 53-29 lead over the Lady Trojans heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Colonels outscored the Lady Trojans 9-8, as the Lady Colonels would come away with a 25 point win over the Lady Trojans with the final score 62-37. The Lady Colonels improve to (13-3) on the season while the Lady Trojans fall to (4-13). Lady Colonels get 2nd sixth district win as the first was a 70-45 win over the Union County Bravettes.
The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior forward Jarie Thomas with 16 points and 13 rebounds while senior guard Graci Risley scored 15 points while knocking down 3 three pointers on the night. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles contributed 14 points while senior guard Mallorie Veal tallied 7 points. Freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson added 5 points and 3 rebounds while sophomore forward Anna Kemp recorded 5 points and 4 rebounds on the night.
As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 6 for 14 (42%) from the three point line while shooting 14 for 18 (77%) from the free throw line while grabbing 32 total team rebounds and committing 14 turnovers on the night.
The Lady Colonels next game will be Thursday night, January 19th, at home at Colonel Gym against the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons with the tip-off at 7:00 P.M.
