The Henderson County Colonels took on the Castle Knights from Newburgh, Indiana at home at Colonel Gym.

 

In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Knights 20-19, as senior guard Gerard Thomas and sophomore guard Cooper Davenport combined for 15 in the quarter. In the second period, the Knights outscored the Colonels 17-13, as the Knights held a 3 point lead at halftime with the score 36-33. 

 

To begin the second half, the Knights would outscore the Colonels 17-14, as the Knights would hold a 6 point lead over the Colonels heading into the fourth quarter with the score 53-47. In the fourth and final quarter, the Knights would outscore the Colonels 29-26, as junior guard Alec Satterfield and sophomore guard Lacon McKinney combined for 15 points in the quarter but the Colonels would fall to the Knights by 9 points with the final score 82-73. The Colonels fall to (12-6) on the season while the Knights improve to (8-5).

 

The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with 18 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 blocks while shooting 7 for 9 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 17 points while knocking down 5 three pointers while sophomore guard Lacon McKinney tallied 13 points while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Sophomore forward Trajdon Davis contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds while junior guard Alec Satterfield recorded 8 points and 5 rebounds. Sophomore guard Dwaine Moss added 5 points while senior forward Jake Rideout tallied 3 points on the night.

 

Castle Knights senior guard Weston Aigner posted a big double-double with 36 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 15 for 16 (93%) from the free throw line on the night.

 

As a team, the Colonels shot 8 for 18 (44%) from the three point line and shot 17 for 27 (62%) from the free throw line while grabbing 28 total team rebounds and committing 12 turnovers on the night.

 

The Colonels will take on the Daviess County Panthers on Thursday night, January 19th, on the road in Owensboro at 7:30 P.M.
