Lady Colonels Sharpshooter Risley Signs with KWC

By Ryan Davenport, WSON Sports Correspondent

On Monday afternoon, January 17th, senior Lady Colonel basketball player Graci Risley signed to continue her athletic career playing for the Kentucky Wesleyan College Lady Panthers.

I was able to interview and ask Graci some questions about her future basketball career at Kentucky Wesleyan and the second half of her senior season as a Lady Colonel.

The first question I asked Graci was what’s this moment feel like having just officially signed to play college basketball, and Graci responded with this, “It feels amazing, I finally have gotten where I wanted to go. I think Kentucky Wesleyan’s a great fit for me so I’m really excited about it.”

The second question I asked Graci was why Kentucky Wesleyan was the best fit for her,  “Just their style and the way they coach and just everything kind of clicked for me,” Graci responded.

The third question I asked Graci was who she would like to thank that made this day possible, and Graci responded with this answer, “Definitely my family and all my friends, especially my teammates and coaches and even Coach (Phil) Gibson. They have all been there for me since day one and I can’t thank them enough.”

The fourth question I asked Graci was what she would like to accomplish in the 2nd half of her senior season as a Lady Colonel, “Definitely a state championship, but for right now just keep winning and playing hard and we’ll get there,” Risely added.

The fifth and final question I asked Graci was some team goals for the Lady Colonels team for the rest of the season, and Graci responded with this, “A state championship on our board. We have Rupp Arena written on the board so that’s our main goal every year and I think we can get there.”

Graci joined the 1,000 point club this season on Thursday, December 29th, 2022, against Hamilton Southeastern.

Graci leads the team in 3 point percentage this season shooting 48 of 91 (52%) from the three point line and second leading scorer averaging 12.3 point per game.
