The Henderson County Colonels faced off against 6th district rival the Union County Braves on the road at Dr. Doug Hines Gym and Gerald Tabor Court in Morganfield.
In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Braves 21-13, as Colonel sophomore guard Cooper Davenport and Gerard Thomas combined for 15 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Colonels outscored the Braves 21-17, as the Colonels held a 12 point lead over the Braves at halftime with the score 42-30.
To begin the second half, the Braves would outscore the Colonels in the third 17-7, as the Colonels would hold a 49-47 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final quarter, the Colonels would play solid defense and outscore the Braves 18–0, as sophomore guard Cooper Davenport would score 9 in the quarter as the Colonels would go on to defeat the Braves with the final score 67-47. The Colonels improve to (15-7) on the season while the Braves fall to (9-10).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was sophomore guard Cooper Davenport with 26 points while shooting 6 for 8 from the three point line and 4 for 5 from the free throw line while grabbing 3 rebounds and recording 3 steals on the night. Senior guard Gerard Thomas scored 15 points while shooting 4 for 4 from the free throw line and grabbing 6 rebounds and recording 8 assists while sophomore forward Trajdon Davis contributed 12 points and 7 rebounds. Senior forward Jake Rideout tallied 5 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 3 for 4 from the free throw line while junior Alec Satterfield recorded 4 points and 2 rebounds along with 2 assists and 2 steals. Sophomore guard Dwaine Moss added 3 points while sophomore guard Lacon McKinney tallied 2 points on the night.
As a team, the Colonels shot 8 for 17 (47%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 13 (85%) from the free throw line while grabbing 30 total team rebounds and recording 15 assists, 9 steals, and 2 blocks while committing 13 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels next game will be Tuesday night, January 31st, on the road in Clarksville, Tennessee as the Colonels will take on the Kenwood Knights at 7:30 P.M.
