The Henderson County Colonels faced off against 6th District Rival the Webster County Trojans on the road in Dixon at Trojan Gym.
In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Trojans 12-3, as Colonel sophomore guard Lacon McKinney scored 8 points and had 5 rebounds in the quarter. In the second period, the Colonels outscored the Trojans 11-4, as senior guard Gerard Thomas had 7 in the quarter and the Colonels would be ahead by 16 points over the Trojans at halftime with the score 23-7.
To begin the second half, the Colonels would outscore the Trojans 16-12, as senior guard Gerard Thomas and senior forward Jake Rideout combined for 10 points in the quarter, as the Colonels would hold a 39-19 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final quarter, the Colonels would outscore the Trojans 24-7, as the Colonels would come away with the 37 point dominating win over the Trojans with the final score 63-26. The Colonels improve to (18-7) on the season while the Trojans fall to (12-10).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior forward Jake Rideout with a double-double recording 16 points and 12 rebounds on the night. Sophomore guard Lacon McKinney recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds while senior guard Gerard Thomas contributed 11 points and 7 rebounds. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 6 points while junior guard Alec Satterfield tallied 4 points and 4 rebounds. Sophomore guard Cole Branson added 4 points while sophomore forward Trajdon Davis contributed 2 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomore guard Dwaine Moss scored 2 points while sophomore center Elijah Suggs tallied 2 points. To round out the scoring for the Colonels, junior forward Max Thompson added 2 points on the night.
As a team, the Colonels shot 0 for 10 (0%) from the three point line and 7 for 12 (58%) from the free throw line while grabbing 48 total rebounds and committing 15 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels out rebounded the Trojans 48-15 in the game.
The Colonels next game will be Friday night, February 10th, at home at Colonel Gym in the second game of a girl/boy doubleheader against the Union County Braves with the tip-off around 7:30 P.M.
