The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Evansville Christian Eagles at home at Colonel Gym on Senior Night.
In the first period, the Colonels outscored the Eagles 11-6, as sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 5 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Eagles would outscore the Colonels 14-13, as the Colonels would be ahead by 4 points over the Eagles at halftime with the score 24-20.
To begin the second half, the Eagles would outscore the Colonels 14-4, as the Eagles would hold a 34-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final quarter, the Eagles would outscore the Colonels 18-16, as senior guard Gerard Thomas would score 12 points in the quarter but the Colonels would come up short and suffer a 8 point loss at home against the Eagles with the final score 52-44. The Colonels fall to (20-8) on the season while the Eagles improve to (13-8).
The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with a double-double scoring 22 points and having 13 rebounds while shooting 7 for 11 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 8 points and grabbed 4 rebounds while sophomore guard Lacon McKinney contributed 6 points and 4 rebounds. Junior guard Alec Satterfield tallied 4 points while senior forward Jake Rideout added 4 points on the night.
As a team, the Colonels shot 3 for 14 (21%) from the three point line and 11 for 15 (73%) from the free throw line while grabbing 31 total rebounds and committing 6 turnovers on the night.
The Colonels next game will be Friday night, February 17th, on the road against the Owensboro Red Devils with the tip-off around 7:00 P.M.
