The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm on the road in Madisonville in the final game of the regular season of the 2022-2023 season.

 

In the opening period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Storm 17-6, as senior guard Graci Risley scored 8 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Storm 21-13, as the Lady Colonels would hold a 19 point lead over the Lady Storm at halftime with the score 38-19.

 

To begin the second half, the Lady Colonels would outscore the Lady Storm 15-3,  as the Lady Colonels would have a 53-22 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Storm would outscore the Lady Colonels 10-7, but the Lady Colonels would come away with a 28 point win with the final score 60-32. The Lady Colonels finish the regular season with a (22-4) recordwhile the Lady Storm finish (21-8).

 

The leading scorer for the Lady Colonels was senior guard Graci Risley with 19 points while shooting 3 for 8 from the three point line and 4 for 4 from the free throw line on the night. Senior forward Jarie Thomas recorded a double-double scoring 13 points and grabbing 14 rebounds while also having 3 blocks and 3 steals, shooting 3 for 4 from the free throw line. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles scored 11 points while shooting 2 for 3 from the three point line while freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson tallied 7 points and 4 rebounds. Senior guard Mallorie Veal added 3 points and had 3 rebounds while senior guard Savannah Lacer contributed 3 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Freshman guard Addy Gish scored 2 points while freshman forward A’Tylia Green tallied 2 points on the night.

As a team, the Lady Colonels shot 7 for 18 (39%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 14 (79%) from the free throw line while grabbing a total of 43 rebounds and committing 12 turnovers on the night.

 

The Lady Colonels next game will be Wednesday night, February 22nd, in Dixon in the 6th District Championship game at 6:30 P.M. against the winner of the Union County Vs. Webster County game.
