The 2nd Region Girls Basketball Tournament opened with the Webster County Lady Trojans facing off against the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm in the first game of the night with the tournament site at Union County High School at Dr. Doug Hines Gym and Gerald Tabor Court in Morganfield.
In the opening period, the Lady Storm outscored the Lady Trojans 21-5, as Lady Storm senior guard Emile Jones and freshman forward Calaja Mason combined for 14 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Storm 14-12, as the Lady Storm would have a 14 point lead at halftime with the score 33-19.
To begin the second half, the Lady Trojans would outscore the Lady Storm 17-12, as Lady Trojan senior guard Brooke Shepherd scored 8 points in the quarter as the Lady Storm would still hold a 9 point lead with the score 45-36 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Storm would outscore the Lady Trojans 19-14, as the Lady Storm would get the 14 point win over the Lady Trojans with the final score 64-50. The Lady Storm improve to (24-8) on the season while the Lady Trojans end the season with a (10-21) record.
The leading scorer for the Lady Storm was senior guard Emile Jones with a double-double scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while shooting 2 for 6 from the three point line and recorded 2 assists and 2 steals on the night. Senior forward Mercy Sutton recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds while freshman forward Calaja Mason contributed a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Freshman forward Tyah White tallied 10 points and 7 rebounds while recording 2 assists and 2 steals and shot 6 for 8 from the free throw line while senior forward Lillie Whitaker-Greer added 8 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 4 for 4 from the free throw line. To round out the scoring for the Lady Storm, senior guard Brooklyn Clark scored 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while also adding 4 assists on the night.
As a team, the Lady Storm were 4 for 16 (25%) from the three point line and shot 20 for 32 (63%) from the free throw line while grabbing 53 total rebounds and committing 20 turnovers on the night. The Lady Storm also added 9 assists, 3 blocks, and 5 steals.
The leading scorer for the Lady Trojans was senior guard Brooke Shepherd with 18 points and 4 rebounds while shooting 2 for 5 from the three point line while recording 3 assists and 3 steals on the night. Senior guard Katelyn Cates contributed 9 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 3 for 4 from the free throw line and recording 4 steals while sophomore forward Hannah Yates scored 8 points. Junior guard Addison Thompson tallied 6 points while shooting 2 for 3 from the three point line while sophomore guard Malorie Austin added 5 points. Sophomore guard Karsyn Cates scored 3 points and added 3 assists while freshman guard Kaylyn Braden tallied 1 point on the night.
As a team, the Lady Trojans were 10 for 25 (40%) from the three point line and shot 8 for 12 (67%) from the free throw line while grabbing 21 total rebounds and committing 9 turnovers on the night. The Lady Trojans also added 8 assists, 3 blocks, and 10 steals.
Lady Rockets Torch Lady Tigers

The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers faced off against the Crittenden County Lady Rockets in the second game of the night in the 2nd Region Tournament at Union County High School at Dr. Doug Hines Gym and Gerald Tabor Court in Morganfield.
In the opening period, the Lady Rockets outscored the Lady Tigers 22-8 heading into the second quarter. In the second period, the Lady Rockets outscored the Lady Tigers 19-14, as Lady Rocket senior guard Taylor Guess scored 11 points in the quarter as the Lady Rockets would have a 19 point lead at halftime with the score 41-22.
To begin the second half, the Lady Rockets would outscore the Lady Tigers 26-15, as Lady Rocket freshman guard Anna Boone and senior guard Taylor Guess combined for 16 points in the quarter as the Lady Rockets would have a 30 point lead with the score 67-37 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Tigers would outscore the Lady Rockets 24-20, as the Lady Rockets would come away with a dominating 26 point win over the Lady Tigers with the final score 87-61. The Lady Rockets improve to (24-5) on the season while the Lady Tigers end the season with a (8-15) record.
The leading scorer for the Lady Rockets was senior guard Taylor Guess with a double-double scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while shooting 8 for 10 from the free throw line on the night. Freshman guard Anna Boone scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds while shooting 2 for 3 from the three point line while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line. Senior guard Natalie Boone tallied 9 points and 3 rebounds while senior forward Addie Hatfield contributed 8 points and 4 rebounds. Freshman guard Chloe Hunt recorded 5 points and 3 rebounds while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line while 8th grade forward Morgan Stewart added 4 points. 7th grade guard Jordyn Hodge scored 3 points while freshman guard Elle Mcdaniel tallied 3 points. Freshman guard Georigia Holeman and freshman forward Andrea Federico recorded 2 points each. Freshman guard Elliot Evans and freshman forward Bristyn Rushing scored 2 points each. To round out the scoring for the Lady Rockets, 8th grade forward Charlee Munday added 1 point and 2 rebounds on the night.
As a team, the Lady Rockets were 5 for 11 (46%) from the three point line and shot 28 for 43 (65%) from the free throw line while grabbing 35 total rebounds on the night.
The leading scorer for the Lady Tigers was junior guard Kahtahvia Fleming with 23 points while shooting 4 for 5 from the free throw line on the night. Freshman guard Makaya Payton scored 14 points while knocking down 4 three pointers while junior guard Shiyah Forte contributed 10 points. Senior forward Ronnijha McGee tallied 4 points while senior guard Zynia Earthman recorded 3 points. Sophomore center Taria Sharber added 3 points while freshman Crislyn Murray scored 2 points on the night.
As a team, the Lady Tigers knocked down 6 three pointers while shooting 7 for 11 (64%) from the free throw line on the night.
The Hopkins County Central Lady Storm will take on the Crittenden County Lady Rockets on Friday night, March 3rd, at 6:00 P.M. in Morganfield in the semi-finals of the 2nd Region Tournament.
