McGrath’s ‘Commonwealth, Common Health’ Providing $5,000 to Food Bank in Henderson County

McGrath works to prevent food bank closures amid public health crisis

LEXINGTON, Ky. – In an effort to help Kentuckians in need during the coronavirus outbreak, retired Marine Lt. Col. Amy McGrath is donating $5,000 to Henderson Christian Community Outreach, a local food bank in Henderson County.
The funding is part of her Commonwealth, Common Health initiative to assist Kentucky communities amid the coronavirus outbreak. McGrath is giving the same amount to The Neighborhood in Boyd County and Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland in Hardin County.
“Hopefully as our initiative grows, we will be able to fund other food banks across Kentucky,” McGrath said. “Many of them are struggling to stay open because they do not have the capacity to meet increased needs and are out of funds and food. Henderson Christian Community Outreach served 50 families in 45 minutes just last week, representing a dramatic increase for them.”
As part of the Commonwealth, Common Health initiative, the campaign is also pairing volunteers and staff with families in need to help with deliveries of food and household items. You can sign up to be involved in the program or request help at the Commonwealth, Common Health portal at https://amymcgrath.com/commonhealth.
“We had hundreds of generous folks help match a $15,000 donation to our fund so we can give other food banks similar resources,” said McGrath, who is running for U.S. Senate. “I’m asking others who can help to support our fund to prevent the closure of food banks across Kentucky at this critical time.”
