Community Foundation of Henderson hires first staff person

HENDERSON, Ky. — The Community Foundation of Henderson has announced the
hiring of the first staff person in the nonprofit organization’s 10-year history.
Chuck Stinnett of Henderson has joined the Foundation as executive assistant. He will be
responsible for handling administrative matters for the organization, maintaining the
Foundation’s website and social media platforms, drafting news releases and other
announcements, helping prepare outreach efforts to local nonprofits, affiliates and their donors,
and related work.
“We realized as a board of volunteers that we would never have a multi-generational
impact in Henderson until we hired someone who could focus weekly on our mission of
transforming Henderson by connecting a donor’s passion to a charity’s purpose,” Foundation
President Mark Weaver said. “We believe that we can triple our donors and endowments over
the next five years with Chuck’s focused guidance, skills and efforts. We look forward to a
greater impact as a direct result of hiring Chuck.”
Stinnett has been a resident of Henderson since 1980, spending more than 35 years as a
journalist with The Gleaner including serving as business editor and columnist. He and his wife,
Donna, received several awards for journalism and community service during their lengthy
careers with the local newspaper. In 2015, Chuck and Donna Stinnett were named the
Distinguished Citizens of the Year by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce.
Since mid-2018, Chuck Stinnett has served as executive director of the Henderson
Leadership Initiative, and he will continue to serve in that role. He has also served on the boards
of multiple nonprofit organizations in Henderson, serving as chairman for three of them: the
Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Trust Fund Committee of First United Methodist Church
and, presently, the St. Anthony’s Hospice Board of Directors.
The Community Foundation of Henderson was conceived by a class of the Henderson
Leadership Initiative and was incorporated as a nonprofit organization in 2011 by some HLI
graduates and other community leaders. Its purpose is to help donors achieve their charitable
goals and enable nonprofits to establish stable income sources such as through permanently
endowed funds.

The Foundation is guided by a 14-member Board of Directors of volunteers that includes
professional financial advisors, professionals such as attorneys and CPAs, leading nonprofit
advocates and others passionate about building a stronger, more vibrant Henderson.
The Community Foundation of Henderson is affiliated with the 25-year-old Community
Foundation of West Kentucky, based in Paducah.
