More Than 6,000 Residents Have Accessed Services Using the Tool
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Tapping into COVID-19 pandemic relief is now in the hands of Evansville residents with an updated feature to the Promise Zone Mobile App. The Evansville Promise Zone developed a technology-driven guide that includes COVID-19 testing and safety information; access to PPE; grab-and-go and delivery food resources; disaster loan information and applications; resources for small businesses; and the ability to apply for unemployment directly from the app.
“As we continue to reopen our community, these additional resources will be invaluable for residents,” said Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. “People need to know where resources are and how they can be connected. We’re appreciative of the Promise Zone for developing the Promise Zone Mobile App to help make those connections.”
This updated feature was first made available last spring. To date, the Promise Zone Mobile App has assisted more than 6,000 Evansville Promise Zone residents in identifying and accessing much-needed services and supports.
Promise Zone resident Sara R. said, “I’ve never relied on food pantries before, but during the pandemic, our family needed additional resources. I was able to use the Promise Zone app to quickly find those resources that helped us through a very difficult time. The app even gave us driving directions to get to the food pantry.”
The initial launch of the Promise Zone Mobile App in December 2019 included resources for housing, shelter, clothing, children, food, health, jobs, safety, and small businesses. Learn more here.
Evansville, Indiana was designated as a Promise Zone in June 2016 and continues to work diligently to connect local stakeholders with federal partners to address the following key initiative objectives: to increase employment opportunities, expand economic development, improve educational opportunities, reduce violent crime, promote health and access to healthcare, and to provide access to quality affordable housing.
