The Trigg County Wildcats faced off against the Henderson County Colonels in the first game of the night in the 2nd Region Tournament at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School in Madisonville.

In the opening period, both the Wildcats and the Colonels scored 8 points each as a team heading into the second quarter. In the second period, the Colonels would outscore the Wildcats 19-12, as Colonel senior guard Gerard Thomas and sophomore guard Lacon McKinney combined for 12 points in the quarter as the Colonels would have a 7 point lead at halftime with the score 27-20.

To begin the second half, the Wildcats would outscore the Colonels 13-9, as the Colonels would hold a 3 point lead with the score 36-33 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Colonels would outscore the Wildcats 14-7, as the Henderson County Colonels would get the 10 point win over the Trigg County Wildcats with the final score 50-40. The Colonels improve their record to (22-8) while the Wildcats end their season with a (15-17) record.

The leading scorer for the Colonels was senior guard Gerard Thomas with 20 points and 7 rebounds along with 7 assists and 3 blocks while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line on the night. Sophomore guard Cooper Davenport scored 10 points and grabbed 2 rebounds while shooting 4 for 4 from the free throw line while sophomore guard Lacon McKinney contributed 9 points and 6 rebounds. Junior guard Alec Satterfield tallied 7 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals while senior forward Jake Rideout added 4 points and 3 rebounds on the night.

As a team, the Colonels were 4 for 16 (25%) from the three point line and shot 10 for 15 (67%) from the free throw line while grabbing 29 total rebounds and committing 7 turnovers on the night. The Colonels also added 10 assists, 5 blocks, and 6 steals. 

The leading scorer for the Wildcats was junior guard Landon Stewart with 12 points while shooting 4 for 7 from the three point line while also recording 2 steals on the night. Senior guard Aquarius Gude scored 11 points and dished 4 assists while shooting 3 for 7 from the three point line while junior forward Jhaden Vaughn contributed a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds while also recording 5 assists and 4 blocks. Senior forward Luke Washer tallied 5 points and 9 rebounds while senior forward Hunter Reynolds added 2 points and 2 rebounds on the night.

 As a team, the Wildcats were 9 for 20 (45%) from the three point line and shot 3 for 9 (33%) from the free throw line while grabbing 29 total rebounds and committing 15 turnovers on the night. The Wildcats also added 9 assists, 6 blocks, and 3 steals.

The Hopkinsville Tigers faced off against the Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons in the second game of the night in the 2nd Region Tournament at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School in Madisonville.

In the opening period, the Maroons would outscore the Tigers 14-13, as Maroon freshman center Christopher Watkins scored 7 points in the quarter. In the second period, the Maroons would outscore the Tigers 10-9, as Maroon senior guard Marcus Eaves scored 9 points in the quarter as the Maroons would have a 2 point lead at halftime with the score 24-22.

To begin the second half, the Tigers would outscore the Maroons 10-7, as Tigers senior guard Bubba Leavell scored 4 points in the quarter as the Tigers would hold a 1 point lead with the score 32-31 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Tigers would outscore the Maroons 19-18, as Tigers senior guard Bubba Leavell hit one of two free throws with 7 seconds left in the game to give the Tigers a 2 point lead as the Maroons got it across halfcourt with 2.8 seconds and Head Coach of the Maroons Jon Newton called a timeout. Out of the timeout the Maroons ran a good play for freshman center Christopher Watkins but his shot in the paint was blocked by Tigers junior forward Antonio Williams for the Tigers to escape with a 2 point win over the Maroons with the final score 51-49. The Tigers improve to (14-16) on the season while the Maroons end their season with a (22-10) record.

The leading scorer for the Tigers was senior guard Bubba Leavell with 24 points while shooting 2 for 5 from the three point line and recording 2 steals and grabbing 3 rebounds on the night. Junior forward Antonio Williams contributed a double-double scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds while senior guard KeiMarion Smith scored 8 points while shooting 2 for 6 from the three point line. Senior forward Isaiah Manning tallied 7 points and 7 rebounds while senior guard Gavarion Northington added 2 points on the night.

As a team, the Tigers were 4 for 15 (27%) from the three point line and shot 9 for 15 (60%) from the free throw line while grabbing 34 total rebounds and committing 10 turnovers on the night. The Tigers also added 3 assists, 2 blocks, and 7 steals. 

The leading scorer for the Maroons was senior guard Marcus Eaves with 19 points and 8 rebounds while recording 4 assists and 3 assists and shot 10 for 12 from the free throw line on the night. Freshman center Christopher Watkins contributed a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while recording 3 blocks and shot 8 for 9 from the free throw line. Senior forward Lajuan McAdoo tallied 5 points and 2 rebounds while senior guard Tre Carney recorded 5 points and 2 assists. To round out the scoring for the Maroons, senior forward Destin Cheirs added 4 points and 8 rebounds on the night. 

 As a team, the Maroons were 2 for 13 (15%) from the three point line and shot 23 for 31 (74%) from the free throw line while grabbing 36 total rebounds and committing 15 turnovers on the night. The Maroons also added 8 assists, 5 blocks, and 6 steals. 

The Hopkinsville Tigers will take on the Henderson County Colonels on Monday night, March 6th, at 7:30 P.M. in Madisonville in the semi-finals of the 2nd Region Tournament.
