Lady Rockets Blast Lady Storm / Sharpshooting Buries Christian County

The Crittenden County Lady Rockets faced off against the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm in the first game of the day in the 2nd Region Tournament Semifinals at Union County High School in Morganfield.

 

In the opening period, the Lady Storm outscored the Lady Rockets 11-10 heading into the second quarter. In the second period, the Lady Rockets would outscore the Lady Storm 17-10, as Lady Rockets senior guard Taylor Guess scored 6 points in the quarter as the Lady Rockets would have a 6 point lead at halftime with the score 27-21.

To begin the second half, the Lady Rockets would outscore the Lady Storm 13-5, as the Lady Rockets would hold a 14 point lead with the score 40-26 heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, the Lady Rockets would outscore the Lady Storm 17-13, as Lady Rockets senior guard Taylor Guess scored 9 points in the quarter as the Lady Rockets would get the 18 point win over the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm with the final score 57-39. The Lady Rockets improve their record to (25-5) while the Lady Storm end their season with a (24-9) record.

The leading scorer for the Lady Rockets was senior guard Taylor Guess with 23 points and 5 rebounds while shooting 9 for 9 from the free throw line while recording 2 assists and 2 steals on the day. Freshman guard Anna Boone scored 14 points while shooting 2 for 3 from the three point line while senior guard Natalie Boone contributed 9 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 steal. Freshman guard Elliot Evans tallied 8 points and 2 rebounds while freshman guard Elle McDaniel recorded 2 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Rockets, senior forward Addie Hatfield added 1 point and 11 rebounds on the day.

As a team, the Lady Rockets were 4 for 11 (36%) from the three point line and shot 17 for 21 (81%) from the free throw line while grabbing 31 total rebounds and committing 10 turnovers on the day. The Lady Rockets also added 9 assists and 5 steals. 

 

The leading scorer for the Lady Storm was senior forward Mercy Sutton with 11 points and 9 rebounds while shooting 3 for 5 from the three point line and recording 2 blocks on the day. Senior guard Brooklyn Clark contributed 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting 2 for 4 from the three point line while freshman forward Calajia Mason scored 8 points. Freshman forward Tyah White tallied 4 points and 4 rebounds while senior forward Lillie Whitaker-Greer recorded 4 points. To round out the scoring for the Lady Storm, 8th grade guard Kenzleigh Harrison added 2 points on the day. 

 

As a team, the Lady Storm were 5 for 13 (39%) from the three point line and shot 0 for 3 (0%) from the free throw line while grabbing 27 total rebounds and committing 17 turnovers on the night. The Lady Storm also added 7 assists, 7 blocks, and 2 steals.

The Christian County Lady Colonels faced off against the Henderson County Lady Colonels in the second game of the day in the 2nd Region Tournament Semifinals at Union County High School in Morganfield. 

In the opening period, the Henderson County Lady Colonels would outscore the Christian County Lady Colonels 15-5, senior guard Savannah Lacer and freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson combined for 9 points in the quarter. In the second period, Henderson County would outscore Christian County 14-11, as sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles scored 6 points in the quarter as Henderson would hold a 13 point lead over Christian heading into halftime with the score 29-16.

To begin the second half, the Henderson County Lady Colonels would outscore the Christian County Lady Colonels 19-7, as senior guard Graci Risley and senior forward Jarie Thomas combined for 10 points in the quarter and Henderson would hold a 48-23 lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final period, Henderson County would outscore Christian County 18-10, but the Henderson County Lady Colonels would win by 31 points with the final score 65-34. The Henderson County Lady Colonels improve their record to (25-4) on the season while the Christian County Lady Colonels end their season with a (16-14) record. 

The leading scorer for the Henderson County Lady Colonels was senior guard Graci Risley with 17 points and 2 assists while shooting 5 for 7 from the three point line and 2 for 2 from the free throw line on the day. Sophomore guard Shalyn Sprinkles scored 16 points and had 3 assists while shooting 5 for 5 from the three point line while senior guard Mallorie Veal tallied 9 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 2 for 4 from the three point line and 3 for 3 from the free throw line. Freshman forward Brooklyn Gibson recorded 9 points and 4 rebounds while senior forward Jarie Thomas contributed 8 points, 17 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists while shooting 4 for 4 from the free throw line. Freshman guard Addy Gish added 4 points while senior point guard Savannah Lacer scored 3 points and dished 8 assists on the day. 

As a team, the Henderson County Lady Colonels shot 13 for 20 (65%) from the three point line and shot 11 for 13 (85%) from the free throw line while grabbing a total of 43 rebounds and committing 16 turnovers on the day. Also the Henderson County Lady Colonels recorded 18 assists, 3 steals and 4 blocks on the day.

 

The leading scorer for the Christian County Lady Colonels was freshman guard Anaysia Bagwell contributing 14 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 6 for 8 from the free throw line on the day. Senior guard Evanna McGregor scored 12 points and grabbed 4 rebounds while shooting 5 for 6 from the free throw line while sophomore guard NeVaeh Day tallied 5 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. To round out the scoring for the Christian County Lady Colonels, senior forward added 2 points and 5 rebounds on the day.

As a team, the Christian County Lady Colonels shot 1 for 12 (8%) from the three point line and shot 12 for 22 (55%) from the free throw line while grabbing a total of 32 rebounds and committing 8 turnovers on the day. Also the Christian County Lady Colonels recorded 2 assists, 10 steals and 3 blocks on the day.
