The player of the game was Lady Trojans sophomore pitcher Chloe Papineau with a shutout game for her on the mound as Papineau hasn’t allowed a run so far this season. Papineau talked about her performance on the night as well as how her team performed against the Bravettes, “I feel like we played really well as a team tonight. I did the best I could, it was cold but I pushed through it.”She also talked about how she has improved as a hitter not just as a pitcher and she said this,” Just having the full confidence in myself has helped a lot and just looking for the most positive outcome.”

Webster County Lady Trojans head coach Jason Scott talked about his team’s performance on the night, “I thought we played a real solid game. Chloe (Papineau) threw a heck of a game (with) 10 K’s and only gave up 5 hits. Really 5 of those hits I put about 3 of them on me for wrong pitch calling. We hit the ball all through the lineup. We ain’t hitting the long ball but we’re hitting some shots, hitting some hard line drives and just real aggressive base running. Union County had some defensive miscues and we took advantage of them by aggressive base running and put the pressure on them even more. My girls are looking good, they’re looking real focused before every game and we’re clicking on all cylinders playing some good ball right now. I’m excited for this week and for the future.”

Union County Bravettes head coach Taner Fowler talked about her observations on the night, “We didn’t do a lot of the small things right. We kind of played passive. We didn’t go out ready to dominate and win.”

Lady Trojans will face the Bravettes again on Monday April 24th in Dixon at 6:00 P.M.
