Union County Braves Senior Kanye Pollard Commits to Vincennes University

By Ryan Davenport, WSON Sports Correspondent

On Tuesday morning, April 25th, Braves senior track and field athlete Kanye Pollard signed to continue his academic and athletic career for the Vincennes University Trailblazers.

Pollard talked about why Vincennes University was the best fit for him, “They really had the best choices when it came to tuition and opportunity when it came to my major. I was going to go to Murray (State University) at first but their tuition was about 35,000 but at Vincennes it was half (of that) and they still offer a track program and they have a really good university and it looks about the same as it did at Murray (State University).”

Pollard discussed his academic plans while attending Vincennes University, “I’m going to be going for business administration, hoping to continue that career and become an entrepreneur of some sort or maybe just go somewhere for athletics.”

Pollard talked about how it feels to be officially signed to be a college track athlete now, “It feels great. I mean you put in all the work in the previous years and stuff like that and it’s just  good to see that progress actually leads to something and then that hard work actually comes into something better.”

Pollard talked about who he wanted to thank that made this day possible, “A special thanks to Ms. Duvall. She’s literally one of the prime reasons why I’m even going to Vincennes (University). She helped throughout my entire senior year, to get credits and stuff like that. My mom and my friends, they keep me in check. All my previous teachers and everybody at the school, it’s just good love and support from everybody in Union County.”

Pollard discussed what made him want to sign and run track at the college level at Vincennes University, “I’m kind of injury prone if you did see football season and in track it’s less cutting and it’s more just physical and it’s more time to recover. I mean I did want to go for football but I was like it’d be a better choice to go for track, knowing that I can still compete and do good things without getting hurt.”

Kanye was a multi sport athlete at Union County playing on the basketball team, football team, and running track in the powder blue for the Braves throughout his high school career.
