Player of the game for the Colonels was senior second baseman Brennan Cates.  I asked Brennan how he felt like he performed in the game and how his team played and he responded with this, “We came out early, something we’ve struggled to do all season long is get the run in. We had some sacrifice flies that started everything and then walks and then everybody started hitting and it was perfect.”

Henderson County Colonels head coach Adam Hines talked about his team’s performance and his senior pitcher Dru Meadows, “Finally got on top a little bit here for once. Scored one in the first (inning), one in the second, and then kind of blew it open after that, Brennan Cates with a big grand slam that kind of gave us a little breathing room. Of course Dru Meadows was great on the mound early, kept some of their best guys off the base same thing we did last night. Started early and just kind of continued throughout the game and then was able to play some other guys which I love, those guys work hard and deserve to play so I was glad to get those guys in too but just a good solid all round night.”

Webster County Trojans head coach Jeff Givens talked about his observations on the night, “Didn’t come ready to play today. Didn’t swing the bat at the plate very well and when the ball was in play defense wasn’t ready. Just a tough loss right there.”
