The Henderson County Lady Colonels faced off against the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons in the Semi-finals of the 2nd Region Tournament in Madisonville.

 

The Lady Colonels would strike first in the top of the 3rd inning with an RBI double from senior second baseman Anna Willett and a 3-run home run by senior first baseman Kendal Hargrove, as the Lady Colonels would take a 4-0 lead over Madisonville-North heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning. 

 

In the top of the 5th inning, the Lady Colonels would score off of 4 RBI singles, 3 doubles, and 1 error to put up a 10 run inning and push the Lady Colonels lead to 14-0 heading into the bottom of the 5th inning. 

 

In the bottom of the 5th inning, the Lady Maroons would get 1 hit but not score a single run as the Lady Colonels would come away with a dominating 14-0 shutout win against the Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons in 5 innings to advance to the 2nd Region Championship Game. The Lady Colonels improve their record to (29-5) on the season while the Lady Maroons end their season with a (27-7) record. 

 

Lady Colonel’s senior first baseman Kendal Hargrove was 2 for 2 with a home run, 5 RBI’s and a double on the night. Senior second baseman Anna Willett was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI’s while 8th grade third baseman Maggie Grogan was 2 for 3 with 1 RBI. Junior left fielder Alyse Rollings was 2 for 4 with a triple and 1 RBI while sophomore pitcher Anna Kemp was 2 for 4 with 1 RBI on the night. 

 

Lady Colonels sophomore pitcher Anna Kemp pitched the 5 innings while only allowing 3 hits and 0 runs while only walking 3 batters and recording 6 strikeouts on the night. 

 

As a team, the Lady Colonels scored 14 runs and recorded 13 hits, 12 RBI’s, 4 doubles, 1 triple, and 1 home run on the night.

 

The Lady Colonels will play in the 2nd Region Softball Tournament Championship Game on Wednesday night, May 24th, at 6:00 P.M. in Madisonville against the Caldwell County Lady Tigers.
