Henderson County Colonels Season Ends in Heartbreak

The Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Whitley County Colonels in the Semifinals of the KHSAA State Baseball Tournament in Lexington at Kentucky Proud Park.

The Whitley County Colonels would strike first in the top of the 3rd inning on a 2 out RBI triple by senior right fielder Sam Harp to give Whitley County a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 3rd inning. 

The Whitley County Colonels would strike again with a RBI single by senior right fielder Sam Harp to extend their lead over Henderson County 2-0 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning.

The Henderson County Colonels would get on the board on a 1 out sacrifice flyout RBI by sophomore third baseman Cooper Vowels to narrow the deficit to 2-1 heading into the top of the 7th inning.  

Neither team would score again as the Henderson County Colonels would suffer a 2-1 loss against the Whitley County Colonels. The Henderson County Colonels end their season with a (20-18) record while the Whitley County Colonels improve their record to (38-4).

Henderson County Colonel’s sophomore right fielder Dax Wilson was 2 for 2 with a double on the night. 

 

Henderson County Colonels senior pitcher Dru Meadows went 7 innings allowing 6 hits and 2 runs while walking 1 batter and recording 4 strikeouts on the night.

As a team, the Colonels scored 1 run and recorded 2 hits, 1 RBI, 1 double, 1 error, and 2 stolen bases on the night.

2 Henderson County Colonel players were named to the State All Tournament team, senior pitcher and center fielder Dru Meadows and senior second baseman and pitcher Brennan Cates are both pictured above.
