DIED THURSDAY, JUNE 15TH, AT HIS HOME. HE WORKED FOR TOMPKINS FUNERAL HOME AND MONUMENT COMPANY, KENDALL DRILLING, GIBBS DIE CASTING, AND HIS LAST JOB WAS AT RHINE RIVER FARMS. CHARLIE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS SON, CLAYTON SMITH, FATHER, UEL O’LEARY, BROTHER, JERRY SMITH, AS WELL AS HIS MENTOR, “PAPA PAUL” TOMPKINS.

DIED FRIDAY, JUNE 16TH, AT THE LUCY SMITH KING CARE CENTER UNDER THE CARE OF ST. ANTHONY’S HOSPICE. HE WORLKED IN TOOL AND DIE FOR THE WHIRLPOOL CORPORATION FOR MANY YEARS, LATER BECOMING THE APPRENTICESHIP DIRECTOR FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SKILLED TRADES UNION. ELMER WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE SHRINERS, EVANSVILLE EAGLES AERIE #427, AND A KENTUCKY COLONEL. HE WAS A MEMBER OF ADVANCED BAPTIST CHURCH. HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS SISTER, LENA MAE DILLARD, HIS BROTHER, HAROLD RANSOM, AND A DAUGHTER, SHARON WILLIAMS.
