Providence parents charged with child abuse after infant injured


PROVIDENCE, Ky. (August 11, 2023) – Kentucky State Police Post 2 received a complaint regarding a 6-month-old infant who sustained injuries consistent with Child Abuse and Assault on August 7th. The infant was in the Emergency Room at Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville at the time the complaint was made, however, she was subsequently flown to Norton’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Further examination revealed the infant had sustained multiple injuries to her body consistent with child abuse.

Through investigation, it was determined the infant was in the care of her biological parents, Mykill Puckett and Holly Jones, of Providence, in the days leading up to the complaint. An arrest warrant was obtained for Mykill Puckett, 23, and Holly Jones,21, which was served by Troopers at the Webster County Jail on Thursday.

Puckett and Jones were charged with first-degree assault and first-degree criminal abuse. Both Puckett and Jones are being held on $100,000 bonds at the Webster County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing by Detective Jacob Fortney.
