CHARLES L. STAPLES           82      OF AIKEN, SC, FORMERLY OF HENDERSON

DIED TUESDAY, AUGUST 15.  HIS CAREER SPANNED 35 PLUS YEARS IN THE RURAL ELECTRIC INDUSTRY SERVING AND LIVING IN SIX STATES ACROSS THE SOUTH, AND HE WAS A FORMER OWNER OF DOGWOOD FLORIST.  CHARLES IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS, ARNOLD LEE STAPLES, IRENE PECKENPAUGH, JIMIE STAPLES, PEGGY SPENCER, AND JERRY STAPLES.

THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD AT 10:00 A.M. ON MONDAY, AUGUST 21, AT BENTON-GLUNT & TAPP FUNERAL HOME

GRAVESIDE SERVICES WILL BE AT BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY IN HEBBARDSVILLE

FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE INVITED TO CHARLES’ LIFE CELEBRATION FROM 2:00 UNTIL 4:00 P.M. AT THE FUNERAL HOME

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE IS SCHEDULED AT A LATER DATE AT WOODSIDE PLANTATION, AIKEN, SC.

JOHN ELLIS SMITH      75       OF HENDERSON

DIED TUESDAY, AUGUST 15, AT HIS HOME UNDER THE CARE OF ST. ANTHONY’S HOSPICE.  HE WAS A SELF-EMPLOYED CONTRACTOR AND WORKED IN CONSTRUCTION HIS ENTIRE LIFE STARTING AT THE AGE OF 9 UNDER HIS FATHERS WATCHFUL EYE. JOHN WORKED UP UNTIL JUNE OF THIS YEAR. JOHN WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS SON, JOHN ELLIS SMITH, JR., DAUGHTER, SAUNDRA LASHEL SMITH, SISTER, EVELYN EMBRY, AND BROTHERS, JAMES “BIMBO” SMITH, AND TERRY SMITH. JOHN WAS A MAN OF GREAT FAITH. HE DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO THE LORD IN 1997 AND WAS ORDAINED IN 2001. HE WAS PASTOR AT PRINCETON GENERAL BAPTIST CHURCH FOR 14 YEARS.  PRIOR TO HIS FULLTIME POSITIONS, JOHN PREACHED AS NEEDED AT MANY CHURCHES IN AND AROUND HENDERSON AND ALSO AT BOTH REDBANKS NURSING HOME AND HENDERSON MANOR.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE INVITED TO JOHN’S LIFE CELEBRATION FROM 4:00 UNTIL 8:00 P.M. ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 18TH,  AND FROM 12:00 P.M. UNTIL SERVICE TIME ON SATURDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME
