The Henderson County Colonels took down the McCracken County Mustangs, 41-0, last Friday night at home in the 1st round of the playoffs.
This week the Colonels are at home at Colonel Stadium.
Henderson County Colonel Head Football Coach Josh Boston talks about the keys to the game to come away with a win against the Mustangs, “We’ve got to make sure we handle the adjustments. It’s like we told the kids, we aren’t using the same game plan we used against them the first time, we can’t, they’re a different team now, they have a new identity and they’re not going to have the same game plan for us. They are going to be doing the same things that we’re doing. We’re adjusting ours based on how they hurt us last time, who they are now and they are going to do the same thing. We can’t think that just because it was 56-28 last time that it’s going to happen that way. They’re going to make defensive adjustments, they’re going to make offensive adjustments to counter the things that we did and so we’ve got to make sure that we go into this game, understanding who we are and playing especially defensively the way we played last week, and then offensively executing whatever our equation is on the field.”
In his 2nd season as the Head Coach of the Mustangs, Coach Jonathan Smith talked about the keys to the game for the Mustangs to come away with a win on the road in the playoffs against the Colonels to keep their season alive, “We’ve got to win the line of scrimmage. I think it’s the third time I have said it. You’ve got to win it up front and I mean ultimately that’s what it boils down at any level of football and the teams that are going to continue to advance in the playoffs 1A through 6A are going to have to win the line of scrimmage up front.”
Kickoff for tonight’s game against the (5-6) McCracken County Mustangs is at 7:00 P.M. at Colonel Stadium in Henderson.
