On Thursday afternoon, November 9th, Colonels senior softball player Taylor Troutman signed to continue her academic and athletic career for the Mississippi State University Lady Bulldogs.

Troutman talked about why Mississippi State University was the best fit for her, “Mississippi State was my dream school since sophomore year. I love it so much and it has brought me so much joy. Every single time I have gone there it’s grown on me and it made me feel so excited and knew I felt I belonged there. I went home and I was like that is my dream school and right when they talked to me on September 1st of my junior year I knew that was my school and I wanted to commit there.”

Troutman discussed her academic plans while attending Mississippi State University, “I’m going to be double majoring in elementary education and special education.”

Troutman discussed how it feels to be officially signed to be a college softball player now, “It feels so weird and I am really excited but I still got a little bit at home and I can’t wait to keep cherishing it.”

Troutman talked about who she wanted to thank that made this day possible, “So many people, I’ll try to keep it short. My family, all my coaches, and all my friends, and God because without any of those four things I would not be anywhere close to where I am today.”

Troutman discussed what attracted her to want to play college softball at Mississippi State University, “The coaches are really awesome, the facilities awesome, the players awesome. Everything there (is) top tier (and) I love it so much.”

Troutman discussed her personal goals she wants to accomplish in her senior season and the teams goals this upcoming 2024 softball season, “I want me and all of us to keep breaking records and I want us to come together as a team and enjoy this last season of us seniors together and I’m just really excited.”

In her junior year, Taylor led the team in hits with 55, had 52 runs scored, 54 RBI’s, 10 doubles, 3 triples, 12 home runs, 10 stolen bases, and a batting average of .478.
