On Friday evening, November 10th, Colonels senior soccer player Ashton Lynam signed to continue her academic and athletic career for the Western Kentucky University Lady Hilltoppers.

Lynam talked about why Western Kentucky University was the best fit for her, “Just because it felt like home. Immediately when I got on campus it was just like a very welcoming atmosphere. The first time I was there it was for an ID camp to try to get recognized and I just felt immediately welcomed by the staff and the players and so that was really like the first immediate good thing.”

Lynam discussed her academic plans while attending Western Kentucky University, “Right now my major is accounting. I might change to finance or business but I think I want to stick to that pathway.”

Lynam discussed how it feels to be officially signed to be a college soccer player now, “It’s crazy. This has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl. It took a lot of hard work but I’m willing to put more in and I can not wait to get started at WKU.”

Lynam talked about who she wanted to thank that made this day possible, “A lot of people. I would like to thank my mom. My mom did a lot of the work, both of my parents did. My soccer coach, he helped me get it together. I want to thank my teammates, my teammates came early and helped me set up for this. I just want to thank my entire inner circle, soccer parents, soccer team, my parents, my close family. They’ve all pitched in to help, so I’m very appreciative of them.”

Lynam discussed what attracted her to want to play college soccer at Western Kentucky University, “I wanted to play soccer there because I think it’s cool representing the part of the state where you come from. I’m literally from Western Kentucky and so the fact that I get to represent them at the college level is pretty cool in my opinion, so I’m very excited to do that.”

In her senior season, Ashton led the team in goals with 53 and was 2nd in assists with 14.
